Overview

Bridal Veil Falls is a two-tiered waterfall located in the Columbia River Gorge that drops approximately 120 feet. The site features a 0.5-mile round-trip trail leading to a viewing platform at the base of the falls. The area was formerly the site of a company town established by the Bridal Veil Lumbering Company in the late 19th century. A separate historic upper trail once led to a ghost town site but is largely overgrown or restricted. The falls are fed by Bridal Veil Creek, which originates near Larch Mountain. The location is situated directly off the Historic Columbia River Highway, providing proximity to other major waterfalls. Native basalt formations surround the creek, creating a steep canyon environment.

Insider tips

Wear sturdy, waterproof hiking shoes as the paved path can be slick from mist.

Bring a rain jacket or water-resistant layers to stay dry near the viewing platform.

Visit on a weekday if possible, as the parking lot is small and fills quickly on weekends.

What to avoid

Do not attempt to scramble off the paved trail to reach the creek, as the steep embankments are unstable.

Good to know

The area is open year-round, though parking access may be limited during heavy winter snowfall.

Etiquette

Stay on the designated paved trail to protect fragile local flora and prevent soil erosion.
