Overview

The Pharmacy Museum in Lviv, known as 'Under the Black Eagle,' is the oldest pharmacy in Ukraine that remains in continuous operation. Located at the corner of Rynok Square, it functions simultaneously as an active pharmacy and a historic museum. The collection features 18th-century medical equipment, rare porcelain vessels, and antique pharmaceutical scales. Visitors can explore a series of interconnected rooms, including a laboratory, a library, and a basement storage area converted into an alchemist's cellar. Many of the wooden cabinets and interior fittings date back to the 1700s. The site preserves an extensive archive of medical literature and handwritten prescription records from the Austrian period. It remains a key center for the study of the history of Galician pharmacy.
