Overview

The Hünkar Köşkü, or Sultan's Mansion Museum, is a 19th-century hunting lodge built in 1844 by architect Leon Parville for Sultan Abdülmecid. It is located on the slopes of Mount Uludağ overlooking the city of Bursa. The structure reflects a fusion of French Empire style with traditional Ottoman interior aesthetics. Notable for its hand-carved ceilings and ornate wall decorations, the mansion served as a residence for several Ottoman sultans during their visits to the city. It functioned as a presidential residence during the early years of the Turkish Republic, notably hosting Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on multiple occasions. The site now serves as a house-museum managed by the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality. Visitors can view original period furniture, personal belongings of former residents, and preserved living quarters. The gardens offer panoramic views of the Bursa cityscape below.
