Overview

Paraeso Falls is a 15-meter-high waterfall located in the Sinbulsan Mountain area of the Yeongnam Alps in Ulsan. The falls drop into a deep, circular turquoise pool carved into granite rock, historically known as Paraeso because prayers for rain were traditionally answered here. The site is accessible via a well-maintained forest trail that runs alongside the Gacheon Stream. The surrounding valley is part of a protected ecological zone characterized by dense deciduous forests and steep rocky cliffs. The pool remains distinct for its vibrant blue color, which is most prominent during periods of stable weather. Visitors access the falls through the Sinbulsan County Park area.

Photo spot

The wooden observation deck directly facing the waterfall provides the clearest view of the basin and the drop.

Insider tips

Wear sturdy hiking boots, as the trail contains uneven rocky sections and exposed tree roots.

Bring a light windbreaker even in summer, as temperatures are significantly lower near the waterfall basin.

Plan your visit to arrive before mid-afternoon to catch the best sunlight illuminating the deep pool.

What to avoid

Do not attempt the hike in high-heeled shoes or flip-flops due to steep and slippery sections.

Good to know

Access may be restricted during extreme weather conditions or high forest fire danger periods.

Etiquette

Swimming and wading in the waterfall basin are strictly prohibited to protect the water quality and local ecosystem.
