Overview

Kotohiki Park is a designated national place of scenic beauty located on a hill overlooking the Ariakehama Beach in Kan'onji. The park is most famous for the Zenigata Suna-e, a massive sand sculpture in the shape of a Kan'ei Tsūhō Edo-period coin measuring 122 meters in diameter. The site features roughly 300 pine trees, many of which are centuries old. Visitors can explore the grounds of Kotohiki Hachimangu Shrine, which dates back to the early 8th century. The park offers panoramic views of the Seto Inland Sea and the Ibukijima island. It is situated on a plateau known as Mt. Kotohiki, providing an elevated vantage point for the surrounding coastline.
