The park is located on the site of a 17th-century maritime quarantine facility used to prevent the spread of diseases from incoming trade vessels.
It sits on the Avinguda de Gabriel Roca, a major thoroughfare constructed on reclaimed land formerly belonging to the sea.
The area is positioned directly below the historic hillside neighborhood of El Terreno, which was historically the center of Mallorca's nightlife in the 1960s and 70s.
The layout provides a direct visual corridor between the sea level and the Castell de Bellver, which is visible on the hill above the park.
Jardines de la Cuarentena is a waterfront green space situated along the Palma de Mallorca promenade, directly overlooking the harbor. The park derives its name from the historical quarantine site that once occupied this stretch of the coast, where ships arriving in Palma were held. It functions primarily as a linear pedestrian walkway and recreational area connecting the port facilities to the city's residential western districts. The park features a mix of Mediterranean landscaping, paved paths, and unobstructed views of the luxury yachts and cruise ships docked in the Port of Palma. It serves as a transition zone between the bustling harbor traffic and the quiet residential streets of the El Terreno neighborhood. The park includes integrated benches, modern street lighting, and low-maintenance native vegetation suitable for the coastal climate.
The elevated walkway sections providing a panoramic frame of the cathedral and the yacht-filled harbor.
Combine your walk with a visit to the nearby Castell de Bellver, which can be reached via a steep pedestrian path starting from the hills above the park.
Visit during the early evening to see the city lights and the illuminated cruise ships docked in the harbor.
Use the park as a thoroughfare to reach the bars and cafes in the Santa Catalina neighborhood located just a short walk east.
Do not mistake this for a large botanical garden; it is a narrow urban promenade and lacks extensive forested areas for shade.
Plan for about 30-45 minutes to see the highlights.
The best time to visit is Late afternoon or dusk for cooler temperatures and harbor sunset views..
