Overview

The View of Charles IV (Vyhlídka Karla IV.) is a neo-Gothic stone observation tower situated on the Hamelika hill in the spa forests of Karlovy Vary. Built in 1877 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the town's founding, it stands at an elevation of 514 meters above sea level. The structure is built from rough-hewn granite blocks and features an external spiral staircase leading to the viewing platform. Visitors can observe the town center, the Ohře River valley, and the surrounding Ore Mountains from the top. The tower was designed by the architect Friedrich Ohmann. It serves as a historic waypoint within the extensive network of forest hiking trails surrounding the resort town.
