Interesting facts
1

The name 'Sekumpul' literally translates to 'collection' or 'group' in Indonesian, referring to the clustered nature of the seven falls.

2

The water source originates from the high plateaus near Bedugul, feeding into the jungle ravines of Sawan.

3

Due to its location in a deep canyon, the falls are partially obscured by tall cliff walls, which significantly limits direct sunlight reaching the lower basin.

4

The site features a variety of ferns and mosses that thrive due to the year-round high humidity and constant spray from the falls.

Overview

Sekumpul Waterfall is a cluster of seven distinct, cascading falls situated in the northern mountains of Bali within the Buleleng Regency. The falls are fed by various streams from the high-altitude jungle, converging into a deep valley. The primary waterfalls drop from a height of approximately 80 meters, surrounded by dense tropical foliage. The site requires navigating steep, unpaved terrain and stream crossings to reach the base of the falls. Mist generated by the cascade creates a localized microclimate, often resulting in slippery conditions at the base. It is considered one of the tallest and most secluded waterfall complexes on the island.

Insider tips

Wear footwear with high-traction soles as the jungle paths and river stones are extremely slippery.

Carry a waterproof bag for electronic devices to protect them from the heavy mist and spray near the base.

Hire a local guide to navigate the complex trail system and manage local access requirements.

What to avoid

Attempting the trek during heavy rainfall, as the trails become dangerously muddy and river crossings can flash flood.

Good to know

Trails may be temporarily closed following extreme weather events or landslides; check local access status before departing.

Etiquette

Respect local customs by covering shoulders and knees if entering nearby village areas; carry out all trash to preserve the protected natural environment.
