The waterfall is carved into sandstone layers that date back to the Machinchang Formation, the oldest geological formation in Malaysia.
The water flow is highly seasonal and can diminish significantly or disappear entirely during the dry season.
The site is part of the Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark network.
Temurun Waterfall is a three-tier cascade located in the Mat Cincang Forest Reserve on the island of Langkawi, Malaysia. The total vertical drop of the waterfall is approximately 30 meters, flowing over sedimentary rock layers. A paved path leads from the parking area to the base of the lowest tier. The site is situated near the northern base of Mount Mat Cincang. Vegetation in the surrounding area includes dipterocarp forest species. The pool at the base of the waterfall is accessible for wading during periods of adequate water flow. The site remains a natural geological feature maintained within a forest park setting.

Wear footwear with high-traction soles, as the rocky areas surrounding the pool become extremely slippery when wet.
Keep distance from the rock faces, as loose stones can occasionally dislodge from the upper tiers.
Do not visit during the peak of the dry season when the waterfall is frequently reduced to a dry rock face.
Respect the natural habitat by not feeding local macaques; keep noise levels low to avoid disturbing wildlife.
