Overview

The Langkawi Sky Bridge is a 125-meter-long curved pedestrian bridge suspended 700 meters above sea level at the peak of Gunung Mat Cincang. It is supported by a single 82-meter-high pylon held by eight cables, allowing the bridge to hang from above rather than supporting it from beneath. The structure spans a deep ravine, providing panoramic views of the Langkawi archipelago and the Andaman Sea. Construction required heavy components to be lifted to the mountain top by helicopter and assembled on-site. The bridge deck is constructed with steel and includes glass sections that allow visitors to look directly down at the forest canopy. Access to the bridge requires a ride on the Langkawi SkyCab cable car, which features the steepest cable car gradient in the world.

Insider tips

Wear comfortable, non-slip walking shoes to handle the metal surface and the incline path leading to the bridge.

Bring a light jacket as temperatures are noticeably cooler and windier at the mountain peak compared to sea level.

Check local weather forecasts for fog or heavy rain, as these conditions significantly reduce visibility and may lead to temporary bridge closures for safety.

What to avoid

Attempting to hike to the bridge via unofficial trails; the area is strictly accessible only via the authorized cable car route.

Good to know

The bridge may close periodically during periods of high wind, heavy rain, or for scheduled maintenance of the cable car system.

Etiquette

No jumping or running on the bridge deck; refrain from leaning over the safety railings.
