Overview

Rozhledna Čáp is a 14-meter-tall wooden observation tower located on the summit of Čáp hill at an elevation of 786 meters. It serves as the highest point of the Teplické skály region in the Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area. The structure was constructed using larch wood and anchored into a sandstone foundation. From the top platform, visitors have a 360-degree view encompassing the Krkonoše, Orlické hory, and the Broumovské stěny mountain ranges. It replaced a smaller, older observation point that existed on the same location for decades. The tower is situated within the Skály area, accessible primarily via hiking trails through sandstone formations.

Insider tips

Bring a pair of binoculars to distinguish distant peaks of the Krkonoše range.

Wear sturdy, high-traction hiking boots as the approach involves steep, uneven terrain.

Carry extra water, as there are no food or water amenities at the summit.

What to avoid

Attempting to climb during thunderstorms or high winds, as the exposed wooden structure becomes hazardous.

Good to know

Open year-round, but access may be restricted during extreme winter weather or heavy ice accumulation.

Etiquette

No specific dress code, but observe silence as it is a quiet nature observation area; keep dogs on a leash.
