Bamboo Beach is located inside the protected boundaries of the Mu Ko Lanta National Park area.
The beach is one of the few places on Ko Lanta that maintains a high concentration of native casuarina trees providing natural shade.
It is effectively the final accessible beach before reaching the southern tip and the lighthouse of the national park.
The offshore waters are known for a high density of rock formations, making it a popular spot for shallow-water snorkeling near the shoreline.
Bamboo Beach, locally known as Ao Mai Pai, is a secluded cove situated at the southern end of Ko Lanta Yai. It remains one of the island's least developed beaches, characterized by its crescent shape, coarse golden sand, and rocky headlands. The terrain is relatively rugged compared to the northern beaches of Krabi, offering a more natural, unmanicured environment. It serves as a quieter alternative to the more commercialized Long Beach or Klong Dao. Access is restricted to a steep walking path or local transport, keeping the beach relatively quiet. The waters are clear, though the seabed contains rocky patches that require caution when swimming.
