Overview

Jaigarh Fort is a 17th-century fortification situated on the Cheel ka Teela hill, overlooking Amer Fort and Maota Lake. Known as the 'Fort of Victory,' it was primarily designed to protect the Amer Fort complex and store weapons. The fort houses the Jaivana cannon, which was the world's largest wheeled cannon when it was cast in 1720. Its architectural layout includes a granary, a central water reservoir, and a puppet theater. The complex features an underground passage connecting it directly to Amer Fort. The site currently serves as an open-air museum displaying medieval artillery and historical armaments. Much of the site remains characterized by its rugged sandstone ramparts and battlements.
