Overview

Seven Lakes Valley is a high-altitude glacial basin located within Triglav National Park in the Julian Alps. The valley is defined by its chain of seven distinct karst lakes nestled between limestone peaks. The trail network connects the basin to the Savica Waterfall and the Vogel ski center plateau. Geologically, the area is characterized by porous limestone that influences the water color and clarity of each lake. The valley contains the Koča pri Savici and the Zasavska koča na Prehodavcih mountain huts. The ascent requires significant physical endurance due to steep karst terrain. Vegetation shifts from dense coniferous forest at lower elevations to alpine meadows and sparse rocky outcrops above the tree line.

What to avoid

Attempting the full circuit without prior experience in alpine mountaineering or sufficient physical conditioning.
