The Zadlaščica canyon is the lowest point of the Julian Alps.
The water temperature in the Tolminka River typically ranges between 5°C and 9°C.
Dante’s Cave, located near the entrance, is linked to legends involving the poet Dante Alighieri and his inspiration for the Inferno.
The confluence of the Tolminka and Zadlaščica rivers is the only place in the national park where two rivers meet within a canyon.
The canyon walls reach depths of up to 60 meters while narrowing to as little as 1.2 meters wide in some sections.
The area is home to the endemic Tolmin trout, a subspecies adapted to these specific water conditions.
Tolminska korita marks the lowest and southernmost entry point into Triglav National Park. The trail follows the confluence of the Tolminka and Zadlaščica rivers, which carve deep limestone canyons through the landscape. Visitors traverse a circular path crossing the Devil’s Bridge, suspended 60 meters above the canyon floor. The route passes thermal springs that maintain a constant temperature despite the cold river water. The Zadlaščica canyon features a natural bridge formed by a large boulder wedged between the rock walls. These gorges were formed by tectonic activity and post-glacial erosion. High limestone walls create a microclimate that supports diverse flora and moss species not found in the surrounding valley. The path includes sections of wooden walkways and stone staircases carved directly into the rock face.

Wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear with good grip as the rock steps can be slippery.
Bring a light jacket, as the canyon floor remains significantly cooler than the surrounding valley even in summer.
Visit during or shortly after light rain to witness the dramatic turquoise color of the river, though paths may be more slick.
Attempting to climb the canyon walls or ignoring safety barriers on the Devil's Bridge.
The site is generally open from spring through late autumn; closed during winter months due to safety risks and icing.
Stay strictly on the marked trail; swimming in the canyons is prohibited to protect the ecosystem.
