Overview

The Sapporo TV Tower is a 147.2-meter tall broadcast tower situated at the eastern edge of Odori Park. Designed by architect Tachu Naito, who also designed the Tokyo Tower, it features an observation deck located 90 meters above the ground. The structure was completed in 1957 to serve as a digital terrestrial broadcasting antenna for the Sapporo area. Its distinctive red-and-white steel lattice exterior serves as a primary navigational landmark for the city center. The observation deck offers a 360-degree view of Odori Park and the surrounding mountain ranges. The tower base houses retail shops, restaurants, and information centers. During the winter, it provides a direct vantage point over the Sapporo Snow Festival main site.
