Overview

The Žalý Lookout Tower is the only stone observation tower in the Krkonoše Mountains, situated at an elevation of 1,019 meters on the Přední Žalý peak. Constructed in 1892 by the Czech Tourist Club, the 18-meter-high structure features a Neo-Gothic design. It provides a 360-degree panorama of the Krkonoše range, the Jizera Mountains, and the Bohemian Paradise region. The tower is connected to a mountain chalet that provides services to visitors at the summit. Accessibility is primarily via hiking trails or the chairlift from Herlíkovice to Bubákov, which terminates below the summit. The site is a significant point on the Ridge Trail. It represents the historical development of tourism in the Northern Czech Republic.
