Overview

Cheongseokgul Cave is the first of the nine scenic views of Okhwa (Okhwa 9-gyeong) located along the Dalcheon River in Cheongju. This natural limestone cave is an archaeologically significant site where prehistoric stone tools and fossils were excavated, confirming ancient human habitation. The cave features a cavernous entrance measuring approximately 10 meters in height and 5 meters in width. Beyond the cave mouth, the site connects to a trail leading to the summit of nearby mountains. The surrounding landscape is characterized by steep, rugged rock formations and clear river waters. Visitors can access the cave via a wooden bridge crossing the river. It serves as both a geological monument and a gateway for trekking paths through the Okhwa area.
