Overview

Stanserhorn is a 1,898-meter mountain peak in the Swiss Alps, accessed via a unique double-decker cable car with an open-air upper deck. The summit features a revolving restaurant, the Rondorama, which completes a full rotation every 45 minutes to provide panoramic views of 10 lakes and the high Alps. A circular path leads from the mountain station to the peak, passing through an alpine flower reserve. The summit area includes an exhibition detailing the history of the funicular railway and cable car technology. The mountain serves as a hub for paragliding and various mountain hiking trails ranging in difficulty. The current cable car system, known as the CabriO, replaced an older funicular segment in 2012, marking the world's first cable car with a roofless top level. The infrastructure is located in the canton of Nidwalden, overlooking the town of Stans. The summit environment is preserved as a nature protected area for local flora.
