Overview

St. Mary's Church in Gdańsk is the largest brick-built church in the world, constructed between 1343 and 1502. The structure reaches a length of 105.5 meters and features a massive nave capable of holding approximately 25,000 people. Its exterior is defined by a vast gabled roof and a distinct asymmetrical silhouette dominated by a prominent 78-meter-tall bell tower. The interior houses a replica of Hans Memling's 'The Last Judgment' triptych and a complex 15th-century astronomical clock. The church serves as a co-cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Gdańsk. Heavily damaged during World War II, the structure underwent extensive restoration to recover its Gothic architectural integrity. The site functions as a Basilica Minor.
