Overview

The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC) is a non-profit performing arts venue housed within a repurposed, historical 1904 railway depot. Situated in Sentul Park, the site blends industrial brick architecture with modern glass structures and surrounding lush greenery. It functions as a hub for local and international theatre, dance, music, and film productions. The complex features multiple performance spaces, including the 504-seat Pentas 1 and the more intimate Indicine. It serves as a base for The Actors Studio, the country’s first private arts academy. The venue also offers an academy of performing arts and various studios for rehearsals and workshops. It remains the only centre of its kind in Malaysia that is fully integrated into a private park environment.

Insider tips

Arrive early to walk through Sentul Park, as the landscaped gardens are part of the venue experience.

Check the official KLPAC website for specific performance dates, as the venue is event-driven rather than a static gallery.

Bring a light jacket as the air-conditioning inside the theatres can be cold.

What to avoid

Do not attempt to walk to the venue from the city centre due to the lack of pedestrian-friendly arterial roads.
