Overview

Kuala Lumpur Eco Park, formerly known as the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, is a 9.37-hectare tropical rainforest located in the city center. It functions as a green lung, featuring a 200-meter elevated canopy walk that provides views of the surrounding urban skyscrapers. The site represents one of the oldest permanent forest reserves in Malaysia, established in 1906. Visitors can navigate several forest trails, including the Bamboo Walk and the Jelutong Trail. The park is managed by the Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia. Vegetation includes rare tree species native to the tropical lowland dipterocarp forest. It serves as a habitat for diverse urban wildlife, including long-tailed macaques and silvered leaf monkeys.

Insider tips

Wear mosquito repellent as the dense vegetation can be humid and attract insects.

Use sturdy, closed-toe walking shoes to handle the occasionally slippery forest paths.

Bring a portable fan or a handheld water mister for cooling relief during high-humidity periods.

What to avoid

Do not attempt to feed the macaques, as they can be aggressive when seeking food.

Etiquette

Maintain silence to avoid disturbing wildlife and do not feed the monkeys.
