Overview

Senyuji Temple, also known as Sensho-zan Sennen-in, is the 58th temple on the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage. Located in the mountains of Imabari, it is situated at an elevation of approximately 450 meters, making it one of the higher altitude temples on the route. The temple is historically associated with Kobo Daishi and features a tranquil forested setting overlooking the surrounding valley. Visitors access the main precinct by climbing a steep stone staircase from the lower gate. The grounds house a variety of structures including a Hondo (main hall) and a Daishi-do dedicated to the founder of Shingon Buddhism.
