Overview

Kaylana Lake Jharna is an artificial catchment area and reservoir located on the outskirts of Jodhpur. Constructed in 1872 by Pratap Singh, it serves as the primary source of drinking water for the city of Jodhpur. The site features a series of cascading waterfalls, or 'jharnas', which flow during the monsoon season. The landscape is dominated by rocky terrain and desert flora typical of the Thar Desert region. It functions as a significant bird-watching site, attracting migratory Siberian cranes and other waterfowl. The reservoir covers an area of approximately 84 square kilometers.
