Overview

Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park covers 72 hectares of restored rocky land within the shadows of Mehrangarh Fort. The park was established in 2006 to restore the natural ecology of a large, rocky wasteland. It showcases the native flora of the Thar Desert, specifically plants adapted to grow in volcanic rock and sandstone crevices. The landscape consists of igneous rock formations known as Malani rhyolite. Walking trails weave through the restored terrain, allowing visitors to see species like kumatiya and rohida. The park is managed by the Mehrangarh Museum Trust. It serves as an ecological haven in the middle of Jodhpur city. The project successfully replaced invasive species with indigenous vegetation.

Visit the visitor center first to understand the ecological history before walking the trails.
