Overview

The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption in Jakarta is a Neo-Gothic Roman Catholic church completed in 1901. Its most recognizable features are its three iron-framed spires, known as the Benteng, Raja, and Dunia spires. The structure replaced an earlier building that collapsed in 1890. The current design was led by architect Marius Hulswit, utilizing a foundation of brick and plaster reinforced with teak wood. The interior includes a notable 19th-century pipe organ and a high altar crafted in the Netherlands. It serves as the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Jakarta. The cathedral complex also houses a museum dedicated to the history of Catholicism in Indonesia.
