Overview

Banyumala Waterfall is a twin-cascading waterfall located in the crater rim area of northern Bali. The site features two parallel water flows that converge into a clear, natural swimming pool at the base. Accessing the falls requires a 20-minute descent from the upper parking area along a steep, rugged trail. The surrounding terrain is characterized by dense tropical vegetation and rocky cliff faces. The site is part of the Buyan-Tamblingan forest region within the Buleleng Regency. Visitors can swim in the basin, which remains cool due to the altitude and forest canopy coverage. The waterfall is situated at an elevation of approximately 500 meters above sea level.

Photo spot

The wooden viewing platform midway down the trail offers a clear, unobstructed angle of both twin cascades.

Insider tips

Wear footwear with high-traction soles to manage the steep, often muddy descent.

Bring a waterproof bag for electronic devices to protect them from the heavy mist at the base.

Carry your swimming gear if you plan to enter the pool, as changing facilities are basic.

What to avoid

Do not attempt the descent during heavy rainfall, as the trails become hazardous and the water level in the basin rises rapidly.

Etiquette

Maintain modesty as this area is considered sacred by local communities; avoid excessive noise and respect the natural environment by removing all trash.
