Overview

Pendopo Agung Trowulan is an open-air pavilion located at the site of the former Majapahit Empire capital. It features a traditional Javanese architectural style characterized by a massive wooden structure and a tiered roof. The site is believed to have been a meeting place for King Hayam Wuruk and his prime minister, Gajah Mada. The current structure is a reconstruction built in the mid-1960s to commemorate the Majapahit legacy. It houses a collection of ancient stone artifacts and statues discovered in the surrounding Trowulan archaeological zone. The area remains a site for cultural ceremonies and historical study. The surrounding grounds are well-maintained and house various relics of the 14th-century Hindu-Buddhist kingdom.
