Overview

Trilha do Saquinho is a historic hiking trail located in the extreme south of Florianópolis, connecting the neighborhood of Solidão to the isolated fishing community of Saquinho. The path is paved with original colonial-era stones, which were laid by local inhabitants in the early 20th century. Spanning approximately 1.5 kilometers, the trail crosses coastal hillsides with views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Naufragados coastline. The destination is a small, secluded beach protected by cliffs and restricted to access via this trail or by boat. The community at the trail's end maintains traditional azorean architecture and limited infrastructure. It functions as a remnant of historical rural life on the island before the expansion of urban road networks.

What to avoid

Attempting the hike in flip-flops or open sandals, as the uneven stones present a high risk of ankle injury.
