Overview

Curug Cimarinjung is a prominent 100-meter-tall tiered waterfall located within the Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu UNESCO Global Geopark in West Java. The waterfall is characterized by its dramatic position between prehistoric megalithic boulders and volcanic rock cliffs. Water flows directly into the Cimarinjung River, which subsequently discharges into the Indian Ocean at Palangpang Beach. The site is a key geological element of the Ciletuh amphitheater, a basin formed by ancient tectonic shifts. The volume of the water is significantly influenced by rainfall, making it a seasonal attraction that can diminish during extended dry periods. The area is accessible via a short hike through local agricultural fields and riverbanks.

What to avoid

Do not swim directly beneath the base of the falls due to falling debris and strong underwater currents.
