Overview

The Tamuli Archaeological Area is a prominent Bronze Age site located in the Marghine highlands of Sardinia, featuring a well-preserved nuragic complex. The site contains a nuraghe and an associated village, but it is most renowned for three distinct Tombs of the Giants. These collective tombs are constructed with large stone slabs and retain their original architectural layout. Six monolithic betyls, or sacred stones, were discovered at the site, with three featuring carved breasts, suggesting a connection to an ancient fertility cult. The tombs date back to the second millennium BCE and reflect the complex funerary practices of the Nuragic civilization. The site is situated on a plateau at an elevation of approximately 700 meters, offering views of the surrounding volcanic landscape.
