Overview

Smrk is the highest peak in the Jizera Mountains on the Czech side, rising to an elevation of 1,124 meters. The current steel observation tower stands 20 meters tall and was constructed in 2003 to replace a historical 19th-century wooden tower. The structure provides 360-degree panoramic views across the Jizera Mountains, the Giant Mountains, and into Germany and Poland. Located directly on the Czech-Polish border, the site features a stone monument commemorating the site's history and the border crossing. The summit is accessible only by hiking or cycling via several marked trails through the surrounding forest. It serves as a major node for the Singltrek pod Smrkem mountain biking trail network.
