Overview

The Torre de TV Digital de Brasília is a 182-meter communications tower designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer, representing one of his final projects before his death in 2012. Locally nicknamed the 'Flor do Cerrado' (Flower of the Cerrado), the structure features two distinct dome-shaped capsules at the top. The lower dome serves as an observation deck providing 360-degree views of the Brasília Federal District, while the upper dome was intended for a cafe or restaurant space. It functions primarily as a transmission tower for digital television signals in the region. The building's white, curved concrete aesthetic follows Niemeyer's signature modernist architectural language. It is situated on the highest point of the Federal District, providing a vantage point over the planned city's urban layout.

Insider tips

Bring a windbreaker, as the observation deck can be significantly windier and cooler than the base level.

Check local weather forecasts beforehand, as visibility of the surrounding landscape is poor during the intense rainy season storms.

Use the provided binoculars on the observation deck to spot the distant Pilot Plan of Brasília.

What to avoid

Do not visit during heavy rain or thick cloud cover, as the primary draw of the observation deck is the long-distance visibility.
