Rocky Gap State Park features the 243-acre Lake Habeeb, known for its high water clarity and sandy beach area. The park spans over 3,000 acres of rugged mountainous terrain within the western region of Maryland. It is uniquely bisected by a mile-long gorge where Evitts Mountain creates a notable geological divide. The onsite campground accommodates both tent and RV campers with a range of amenities. A network of hiking trails provides access to forest habitats and overlook points above the lake. Visitors can access a public boat launch and utilize the lake for swimming, fishing, and non-motorized boating. Wildlife in the area includes white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and various bird species. The park serves as a primary hub for outdoor recreation in Allegany County.
