Overview

Svirzh Castle is a 17th-century fortified estate located in the Lviv Oblast of Ukraine. Originally constructed as a defensive stronghold, it was later transformed into a fortified residence by Count Aleksander Cetner. The architecture blends defensive bastions with a residential palace core, surrounded by a moat and two defensive ponds. The structure was significantly damaged during the World Wars but underwent partial restoration in the late 20th century. It is famously recognized for its appearance in the 1978 film 'D'Artagnan and Three Musketeers' as the home of D'Artagnan. The estate grounds feature an old park, a chapel, and a stone bridge crossing the moat. The castle is managed as a cultural heritage site and frequently hosts art exhibitions and festivals.
