Overview

Salabat Khan's Tomb is a three-story stone structure located atop a hill in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, offering panoramic views of the surrounding plateau. Despite its name, the monument is actually a cenotaph built for Salabat Khan II, a minister in the court of the Nizam Shahi ruler Murtaza Nizam Shah I. The building features an octagonal design constructed entirely of dressed stone, standing 12 meters high on a wide terrace. It lacks a tombstone inside, functioning as a memorial pavilion rather than a traditional burial chamber. The architectural style reflects the late Nizam Shahi period, characterized by arched openings and thick masonry walls. It is positioned at an elevation of approximately 3,080 feet above sea level.
