Overview

The Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Jaszczurówka is a premier example of the Zakopane Style of architecture. Designed by Stanisław Witkiewicz, it was constructed between 1904 and 1907. The building features a distinctive log construction built on a stone foundation, reflecting the traditional craftsmanship of the Podhale region. It serves as a branch of the Parish of Our Lady of Fatima in Zakopane-Krzeptówki. The interior includes a wooden altar designed by Witkiewicz himself. Its current structural integrity is maintained as a protected heritage site under Polish law. The chapel is located near the eastern edge of the Tatra National Park buffer zone.
