Akyatan National Park is a protected wetland located on the Mediterranean coast of Türkiye, characterized by its vast lagoon and extensive dune system. It serves as a vital nesting ground for endangered green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) and loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta). The ecosystem comprises a mix of lagoon waters, salt marshes, and Aleppo pine forests. It is an internationally recognized Important Bird Area, hosting migratory flocks including flamingos, pelicans, and various waterfowl. The site is part of a complex delta system formed by the Seyhan and Ceyhan rivers. Access is strictly managed to protect the sensitive sandbar nesting sites. The park encompasses over 14,000 hectares of diverse terrestrial and aquatic habitats.
