The park grounds previously hosted the Shriners Hospital, which operated at this location from 1927 until 1980.
The park is situated on a hillside, providing elevated views of the surrounding Greenville residential landscape.
Many of the original structural foundations from the historic hospital were repurposed or integrated into the current park layout.
