Overview

Shasui Falls is a three-tiered waterfall located in the town of Yamakita, recognized as one of the 100 Best Waterfalls in Japan by the Ministry of the Environment. The water source originates from the Tanzawa Mountains, flowing through the Kawauchi River system. The site consists of the Ichi-no-taki, Ni-no-taki, and San-no-taki tiers, with the first tier reaching a height of approximately 69 meters. A wooden viewing deck allows visitors to observe the base of the primary cascade. The surrounding woodland features walking paths that transition from the village edge into the forested valley. The site is a registered scenic spot within the Kanagawa Prefecture regional landscape protection zone.

Insider tips

Insect repellent is recommended during the humid summer months.

Pack out all trash, as there are no public bins along the forest trail.

What to avoid

Attempting to climb the rock faces or straying from the designated wooden walkways, which can be dangerous due to loose terrain.
