Overview

Alwar City Palace, also known as Vinay Vilas Mahal, is an 18th-century architectural fusion of Rajput and Mughal styles situated at the base of the Aravalli hills. Built by Raja Bakhtawar Singh in 1793, the structure serves as the primary repository for the Alwar Government Museum. The ground floor houses a collection of ancient artifacts, while the upper levels exhibit rare Persian and Arabic manuscripts and miniature paintings. The palace courtyard features a prominent marble lotus flower-shaped base originally designed for a fountain. It remains one of the few surviving historical structures in Alwar that showcases the transition of royal architectural motifs during the late Mughal era.
