Overview

Parc du Cinquantenaire, also known as Jubelpark, is a 30-hectare urban park dominated by a triple-arched triumphal arch commissioned by King Leopold II. The park was constructed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Belgian independence. It houses three major institutions: the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History, the Art & History Museum, and the Autoworld museum. The central arch features a bronze quadriga sculpture representing Brabant raising the national flag. The park grounds include extensive lawns, flowerbeds, and a central esplanade designed for large-scale public events. The Art & History Museum contains one of the largest collections of antiquity and decorative arts in Europe. The military museum provides access to the arch's roof, offering views over the Brussels European Quarter. It remains a central site for the Brussels 20km marathon and various national parades.
