Overview

Hili Archaeological Park is the largest Bronze Age site in the United Arab Emirates, located in the Al Ain region of Abu Dhabi. The site features the restored Grand Tomb, a circular stone structure dating back to the Umm an-Nar culture around 2500 BCE. The park serves as an open-air museum preserving artifacts from the Hafit and Umm an-Nar periods. It is integrated into a modern public park environment that includes landscaped gardens and recreational zones. Excavations at this site provided critical evidence of early agricultural settlements using the ancient falaj irrigation system. Visitors can observe excavated settlement remains, defensive towers, and burial chambers spread across the property. The park is recognized for its historical significance in illustrating the transition from nomadic lifestyles to settled farming communities in the region. The site is part of the broader Al Ain UNESCO World Heritage designation.
