Overview

Garh Palace, also known as Bundi Palace, is a multi-layered complex built into the hillside overlooking the city of Bundi. The palace is renowned for its collection of Bundi-style miniature paintings, particularly within the Chitrashala, an open-air art gallery. Constructed primarily during the 17th and 18th centuries, the architecture features ornate stonework, carved brackets, and elephant motifs. The complex consists of several smaller palaces built by successive rulers, including the Phool Mahal and Badal Mahal. Visitors navigate a series of steep, winding paths to access the upper sections. The site remains largely un-restored in parts, preserving its original architectural integrity. It serves as a prime example of Rajput military and aesthetic design from the Hadoti region.
