Overview

Nature Preserve Radouč is a protected botanical site located on a limestone plateau overlooking the Jizera River in Mladá Boleslav. The area is most distinctive for being the only place in the Czech Republic where the critically endangered Pulsatilla patens, or eastern pasqueflower, grows in its natural habitat. The reserve features a unique steppe-like ecosystem developed on chalk bedrock, supporting a variety of thermophilous plant and insect species. A nature trail spans the reserve, providing educational panels about the local karst geology and biodiversity. The site is a former military training ground, which unintentionally prevented agricultural development and helped preserve the rare steppe flora. The plateau offers panoramic views of the city of Mladá Boleslav and the surrounding valley. It is an open-access outdoor site suitable for walking and nature observation.
