Overview

Slovanka is the oldest iron lookout tower in the Czech Republic, originally constructed for the 1889 Vienna Jubilee Exhibition before being relocated to the Jizera Mountains in 1897. Standing 11 meters tall on the Seibtova vyhlídka rock, it provides panoramic views of the Jizera Mountains, Krkonoše, and the Lužické hory. The structure consists of a four-legged iron frame topped by a circular observation deck. Despite being decommissioned for safety reasons in the late 20th century, the tower underwent extensive renovations and reopened to the public in 2000. It is located at an elevation of 820 meters above sea level near the summit of Slovanka hill. The tower's design is heavily influenced by the industrial aesthetics typical of 19th-century metal engineering.

Combine your visit with the nearby trail to the mountain village of Josefův Důl.

What to avoid

Attempting the ascent during high winds or thunderstorms, as the open iron structure offers no shelter.
