Overview

Taman Hutan Raya Ir. H. Djuanda is a 526-hectare forest park and conservation area situated on the northern outskirts of Bandung. The preserve serves as a vital watershed protection zone for the Cikapundung River and features diverse tropical flora including over 2,500 tree species. The park contains two historical Dutch-era tunnels, Goa Belanda and Goa Jepang, which were carved into the rock during the colonial and WWII periods. A network of hiking trails connects these tunnels to the Curug Omas waterfall and various scenic viewpoints. The terrain is hilly, ranging from 770 to 1,350 meters above sea level, providing a cooler microclimate than the city center. Wildlife inhabiting the area includes long-tailed macaques and various indigenous bird species.

Insider tips

Keep food items securely packed in backpacks to avoid attracting territorial macaques.

What to avoid

Do not wander off the marked hiking trails, as the terrain is prone to landslides and disorientation.

Etiquette

Avoid feeding the wild macaques and keep noise levels low to protect the wildlife habitat.
