Overview

Panola Mountain is a 100-acre granite monadnock protected as a National Natural Landmark within a 1,635-acre state park. Access to the mountain itself is restricted to guided ranger-led tours to protect its fragile ecosystem and rare plant communities. The park serves as a hub for the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area. Visitors can access a network of multi-use trails, including the paved PATH trail that connects to the surrounding landscape. The park contains two fishing lakes, Alexander Lake and another smaller body of water, which are open for recreational angling. Primitive camping options are available by reservation. The landscape features diverse habitats ranging from granite outcrops to hardwood forests and wetlands.
