Overview

Rozhledna Drahoušek is a steel-lattice observation tower located on the Drahoušek hill at an elevation of 504 meters above sea level near Osečany. Built in 2004, the structure reaches a total height of 48 meters, with the viewing platform situated at 32 meters. The design is unique for its integration of GSM antennas into the tower structure, which was financed by mobile operators. Visitors must climb 164 steps to reach the gallery. From the top, the observation deck offers panoramic views of the Sedlčany region, the Vltava River valley, and, under clear visibility, the peaks of the Šumava mountains. The tower stands on the border of the cadastral territories of Osečany and Sedlčany. It remains a popular waypoint for hikers traversing local trail networks in the Central Bohemian landscape.

Bring binoculars as the elevated position offers long-distance views across the Vltava basin.

Wear sturdy footwear suitable for forest paths, as the final approach is unpaved.

Check the weather forecast for high-wind conditions, as the open-air staircase can be uncomfortable during gusts.

What to avoid
