Overview

Castello Visconteo di Bereguardo is a 14th-century fortified manor commissioned by the Visconti family to control the strategic crossing of the Ticino River. The structure serves as a prime example of Lombard military architecture, featuring a quadrangular plan with corner towers and an internal courtyard. Originally constructed for defensive purposes and as a hunting lodge for the Visconti court, the castle later transitioned into a private residence. It is currently under private ownership and serves as a venue for cultural exhibitions, weddings, and private events. The building retains original terracotta decorative elements and traces of moats that once surrounded the perimeter. It is situated on the edge of the Ticino Valley Park, overlooking the river valley.
